Using the mouse to paint is a pain but it encourages you to explore different techniques! www.netbooknews.com Gigabyte is entering the tablet space with a 10 inch Windows Home Premium Tablet called the S1080. Under the hood of this multitouch capacitive 1024 x 600 resolution display are an Atom N550 dual core CPU, a 320 GB hard drive, SD card slot, a speedy USB 3.0 and a VGA out port. You don't see many tablets with VGA as most are opting for HDMI, but I guess if you're looking to hook this up to an external monitor in the business world VGA is still pretty common. This tablet is being pushed forward as a business tablet, something along the lines of the HP Slate, which we know only sold around 6000 units. Looks at the hardware design we can see that the screen already sports Android navigation buttons. This is a little confusing since the only timelines Gigabyte can hope to follow at this point for Android would be Honeycomb and Android 3.0 is not meant to need these navigation buttons. Similarly for navigating around Windows they have included a mouse pointer as well as a left and right mouse buttons. I hope that they are planning on dropping the profile of the device in the next build as it is a little thick for my liking. We have no word on pricing but availability for the tablet should be in March just in time for honeycomb.

I just bought the new Coby Kyros MID7022-4G 7" Android 2.3.3 tablet. Kyros MID7022-4G has a Cortex A8 1Ghz processor, 512MB RAM DDR3 RAM, and 4GB built-in memory expandable by an 32 additional GB using an SD card, and a 800 x 480 WVGA display. I installed Adobe Flash 10.3, Android Market, and Sling Player to upgrade the Kyros 7022-4G from a 9 tablet to a 0 tablet. Sorry that the video is slightly out of focus, it was 1:30 am and I didn't want to refilm it. I may film some more later and post it. I left the packing film over the screen to protect it until I can get a proper screen protector. In addition, the tablet is covered with a Samsung Galaxy Pad silicone case (the Kyros is a few millimeters longer) so the speaker was muffled in this video. I wanted to let people know that upgrading this tablet is quick and easy. I am impressed responsiveness of the multi-touch capacitive screen and the speed of the processor.

Zinio has released a hardware accelerated application that is living up to the performance we've come to expect from Nvidia Tegra 2 applications. In a head to head battle with the iPad 1 which was released way back in April of 2010 the ACER Iconia Tab A500 which is only a few months old is not able to compete and falls several seconds behind when comparing page refresh rates. In previous testing with the non optimized Zinio application we actually saw quicker speeds, this was using the Motorola Xoom, but the hardware platform remains identical to the Acer Iconia Tab. What is surprising about the Zinio app on the Xoom is that it took 3 reinstalls to get even get it to open with out freezing or crashing. Something is definatley wrong with this update since it was meant to bring greater surfing ease to your magazine subscriptions!
