I have owned 2 drawing tablets (Wacom and this one). This tablet is very frustrating because at least twice a day the tablet quits responding to clicks. It is fine for drawing but I use it in place of a mouse and become very frustrated when trying to tap with the pen. At least once a week I have to open the pen and turn the battery or change it. The Wacom never did this even though it was about six years old.
I will never buy a tablet that uses batteries again.
For everyday use, I would recommend purchasing a better tablet.

This tablet is a great value. It is well built, with enough weight to keep it securely on your desk, and a smooth and finished feel. The pen is sturdy enough, though not the best I've used. Button placement on the pen is mediocre. The mouse works, but the scroll wheel is only an up/down toggle button with software scrolling. Engineering seems good, and the unit works well. The pen holder is well placed.
Overall, for the price, this is an excellent buy. However, at this price range, Genius should have considered the fact that people would be using it with the popular free software Gimp, a Photoshop alternative. The tablet does NOT currently work properly with the latest version of Gimp under Windows 7.
